I can still remember an American couple commenting that they find the peanuts in Calbayog sweet. That was it, it took strangers from a far-away land for me to appreciate these "little" (literally and figuratively) blessings in Calbayog. And here are some pix i took of one peanut vendor's stand. There's quite a number of them na nakahilera in front of the Nijaga Park (along Gomez Street) . . .
. . . you can have your peanuts roasted with garlic and skin on, growers style (no skin) and the hot one as in with green chili . . .
. . . and nothing beats the sight of a steaming container full of boiled peanuts.
The peanut stands look like this at night. For the vendors, the the nightly view of the establishments in front of them (granting that there is no power outage) always looks like this . .
. . . that's Rosales Boulevard
. . . that's Jollibee and Mercury Drug along Gomez street
. . . an more establishments towards Navarro Street and Magsaysay boulevard.
