SILG Mar Roxas at BFP Calbayog

DILG Secretary Mar Roxas arrived in Calbayog today. He was on hand for the blessing of the new Calbayog Fire Station which is located in Brgy. Capoocan (in front of the Hall of Justice). Present during the event were Rep. Mel Sarmiento, Mayor Ronaldo Aquino, the city officials as well as members of the local media.

SOS TechVoc Training Center formally inaugurated

The SOS Technical-Vocational (TechVoc) Training Center was formally inaugurated today with Helmut Kutin (wearing a yellow cap) as the guest of honor. The Training Center is located in Barangay Dagum at the old CKC Elementary Schotool campus. Samar solon urges the public to support K + 12

CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar, Jan. 22 (PIA) -- Staunch advocates of the education program K + 12 urged the public to give the program a chance even if it draws criticisms from the very teachers that are supposed to promote the program.


Representative Mel Senen Sarmiento of Samar’s first district said that K +12 is an answer to the low employability of our college graduates. (read more ...)

Lawmakers: Stop saving drug mules

Two lawmakers have urged the government to stop frantically trying to save convicted drug mules from execution abroad but rather to spend taxpayer money on more worthy causes.


Western Samar Representative Mel Senen Sarmiento said that while it was reasonable to expect the government to help a Filipino suspected of crimes abroad during the trial stage, it should stop interceding once he or she was convicted.


“Once they are found guilty beyond reasonable doubt, the government should stop interceding in their behalf at the expense of law-abiding Filipino taxpayers,” said Sarmiento. (Read more . . .)
