working and having fun

Today's blog title was what came to mind when I reviewed this pix which I took (with my old mobile phone, again). It's the City Mayor posing with some CACO employees before the start of the Streetdance Exhibition (which happened on a Sunday).
In the photo are (l-r) Jonas Lim, Jinjin Aguilar-Cinco, Mayor Mel Sarmiento, Sally Labian-Roleda, Josie Dordines-Aurea, Analee Balane, Roselle Palermo-Esponilla and Warren Taperla.

Calbayog welcomes her MEDCAP guests

Calbayog's famous Sarakiki - Hadang Performers were at the Calbayog Airport again today. They were on hand to do their trademark dance of welcome for the Team Members of the Medical Civic Action Program (MEDCAP) of the USNS Mercy Mission.

Here are some pictures taken during the activity.

as with the guests in other events, some MEDCAP team members were asked to join the ritual dance.

Calbayog welcomes her PDA guests

Let me share some pictures taken during the welcome program for the members of the Philippine Dental Society who are in town for their Dental Mission.

The activity was held in front of the City Hall late this afternoon. Mayor Mel Sarmiento gave a short welcome speech. The highlight of the affair was the Sarakiki-Hadang Performance which has now become a customary dance of welcome for the City's VIP guests. I guess it started
with PGMA when she flew in for Charter Day 2006.

For this performance, a new twist was added, guests were made to dance with the Sarakiki-Hadang performers halfway through the presentation.

The program was capped by a dinner with the City Officials at the City Mayor's Office.
