Images from my old hometown

Let me give you something to smile about tonight. I saw this in one the establishments in the city. Apparently the owner or the boss has had enough of "utang collectors" pestering his employees during work hours.

It's All Saints' Day, and tomorrow is All Souls' Day. Sugad san nababatasan, buwas an mga taga-Calbayog mabisita san ira mga hinigugma nga nagkamatay na. We decided to visit the cemeteries today and take pix while the place is still less crowded.

Here are some pix which I managed to take earlier today.

Yup, traffic was re-routed so as to decongest the hi-way especially along the two cemeteries

And this was how the road along the Catholic cemetery looked like today, it got the usual motorcylces, PD cabs, the traffic aides, and . . .
. . . and yes, a pink coffin by the sidewalk.

And where the crowds are, expect the entrepreneurs to the there. As to this one, I'm wondering where one will get to pee, well, at the breakwater at the back of the store?
. . . yup the Barangay Officials also had their assistance center. There was a phone load center too (pix below)

. . . and fruit vendors too
Did you say you needed an area to park your bike?

Mang Inasal opens store in Calbayog

Mang Inasal opened its Calbayog branch last Thursday.

I got an invitation to the affair, sadly they misspelled my name . . .

Let me give you something to smile about this weekend. It's a picture I took more than a year ago. It's that of a group of ladies on the sidewalk near a local drugstore and doing something which looks like panhinguto. Smile! It's a weekend.

Nope, dolphins did not invade the city. I took this pictures many weeks ago. These toys were not decorations on the pathway along the Nijaga Park. Maybe the vendor was simply aware of his space and that he was "artistic" enough to arrange his stuff this way. Well, it did catch the attention of a good number of pedestrians. And needless to say, these stuff were sold out.

Happy Valentine's Day. Nope, I don't have anything about Valentine's Day in Calbayog. I thought I'd like to share something which made me smile. It's a brand of battery which is kinda ticklish especially this time of the year when people or lovers are into cozy dinners, wine and well, your guess is as good as mine. Smile!

p.s. the battery is available in a local store Calbayog where they sell stuff imported from China.

toinks!!!

Here's my take on that DOT campaign. After listening to the DOT Secretary and the agency which did it, I think it made sense. As to the name Ronald instead of "Pilipinas", all I can say is toinks! Smile have a nice week ahead!

and yes, while we are into the issue, I might as well give you this which I got somewhere in the internet:

from celebrity hound to paparazzi

U.S. Ambassador Harry Thomas was in Calbayog yesterday. Well, the celebrity hound (meaning me) failed to have his picture taken with the amiable diplomat. I got busy shooting pictures and yup I ended up as a paparazzi (that's simply 'a photographer' in Calbayog parlance). I would have wanted to call this blogpost as "I shot the Ambassador". Mr. Thomas is shown here with my friends Jennifer Sumagang-Allegado and Immabel Sidic. Yup, I shot the three of them, err, I took this picture.

lotto

In a few hours, the biggest lotto prize (so far) which is something like 355 (?) million pesos will be drawn. Thus explains the long line in a lotto betting station along Rosales Boulevard. Let me make a "wild" prediction. If one is to base it from the previous lotto results, should a person win the jackpot tonight, that person will not be someone from the Visayas but from Luzon.
