Consul Raul Hernandez paid a courtesy call on Mayor Mel Sarmiento today. Mr. Hernandez who is from Catarman considers himself a Calbayognon after having spent a good number of years of his student life in Calbayog.

where two or three are gathered . . .

nothing biblical or holy about this blog update. Just wanna give you an idea as to how big was the crowd (or number of patients) was that turned out for the Dental Mission being conducted by the Philippine Dental Association. 27 Dentists from the PDA are in town for the said mission. I have posted more pictures and details in my other blog.

Back to today's title, it was not merely a gathering of two or three - hundred I should say - but more, as the pictures show (partially, if I may add)

That line leads to the second floor of the Old Barracks Building where the Dental Services are being done by the Dentists - and in some cases - with some City Officials assisting, now that is interesting. This line went as far as the back of the City Hall at the vicinity of Radyo ng Bayan. And yes, this line is only for patients who have been screened.

. . . and when crowds gather, expect some of our enterprising brothers to be on hand to sell refreshments, and yes, even cotton candy . . .

Calbayog welcomes her PDA guests

Let me share some pictures taken during the welcome program for the members of the Philippine Dental Society who are in town for their Dental Mission.

The activity was held in front of the City Hall late this afternoon. Mayor Mel Sarmiento gave a short welcome speech. The highlight of the affair was the Sarakiki-Hadang Performance which has now become a customary dance of welcome for the City's VIP guests. I guess it started
with PGMA when she flew in for Charter Day 2006.

For this performance, a new twist was added, guests were made to dance with the Sarakiki-Hadang performers halfway through the presentation.

The program was capped by a dinner with the City Officials at the City Mayor's Office.
