Last September 7, 2010, the eve of the Calbayog fiesta, Bishop Isableo Abarquez led in the re-dedication and reconsecration of the Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral. If one is to look at the 'ORDO' that small book which serves as a guide in all churches at it contains all the solemnities and what have you for the Church in the Philippines. September 7 is supposed to be a big day for the Parish of Calbayog City. It was on September 7, 1915 that the Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral was dedicated. For unknown reasons, that feast was never observed, at least as far as I know.
Anyway, the Cathedral underwent restoration early this year in preparation for the Centennial celebration. A re-dedication and reconsecration was supposed to have been done on April 9, 2010, but for some reasons, it was moved to September 7, 2010.
Here are some pictures which I got courtesy of Fr. Mike Aguilar. Surely it was a kinda long ceremony.
