nag layt guihapun
I'm back! Finally, after 4 days and 21 hours (that's putting the power failure at approximately 3:00 pm of June 23, 2009), power was restored in the city. Thanks but no thanks to typhoon Feria. Now this gives more reason for the National Grid Corporation to fast track the implementation of the project replacing the wooden (electric) poles in Samar with the steel ones, similar to the ones used transmit power to Luzon. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

the 12th Sunday in the Ordinary Season
Today is the 12th Sunday in the Ordinary Season. During the 8:00 a.m. mass, I read this introduction which I thought I'd like to share with you. It's taken from today's issue of the Sambuhay misalette.
... as we confront the varied storms of life - troubles, disappointments, accidents, illnesses - God's Word today invites us to renew and deepen our faith and trust. Jesus wants us to be more aware and convinced that He stays with us and guides us safely through the storms of life.
Last June 19, the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests, in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the death of the saintly Curé of Ars, St. John Mary Vianney, Pope Benedict XVI solemnly opened The Year of Priesthood.
Let us be one with the Holy Father in calling our priests to be "present, identifiable and recognizable - for their judgement of faith, personal virtues and attire - in the fields of culture and of charity, which have always been at the heart of the Church's mission."

limosan
(or some parish update)
Aside from the decree increasing the arancel of fees in the parish, another feature (new if I may add) in the Cathedral are the tables with envelopes placed alongside the solicitation boxes for the 2nd Catholic Cemetery. And what are these envelopes? It's something akin to the ones usually distributed during All Souls' Day. You know that ones where we put our donations and on which we write the names of our dear departed for the priests to include in the prayers in the masses on November 2 (Well, as per tradition anyway). So what about it? Wala lang, it's just that, oh well, I'd rather keep the question to myself. (Smile it's a new week!)
