Proclamation of the Jubilee
On this day, Palm Sunday in the year 1212,
in the Chapel of the Portiuncula in Assisi,
Clare D'Offreduccio known later as
St. Clare of Assisi, was received to the
Religious Life by Francis Bernardone,
who later became St. Francis of Assisi.
That same day marked the beginning of
the contemplative community of the
Poor sisters, known worldwide as
POOR CLARE NUNS.
AND SO THIS DAY, Palm Sunday 2011,
The Celebration of the Octocentennial
or 800th Anniversary of the Birth of
The Second Order of the Franciscan Family,
founded by St. Clare
is officially open.
