3 new Deacons for Calbayog

The Diocese of Calbayog will welcome her three new Deacons on Monday.

To be ordained to the Diaconate are Seminarian Ted Ryan Perez of Gandara, Samar; Seminarian Gil Cagomoc of Brgy. Trinidad, Calbayog City and Seminarian Guillermo Alorro of Oquendo, Calbayog City.

Their ordination will be presided over by Bishop Isabelo Abarquez at the Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral on September 17, 2007 at 9:00 o'clock in the morning.

Happy Birthday Msgr. Basiling

Msgr. Basiling turned 98 years old today. He was among the concelebrants during the Pontifical Mass in celebration of the Feast of Our Lady's Nativity.

Last year during the Charter Day Celebration, in the words of Mayor Mel Sarmiento, it was Msgr. Basiling's meeting with President Arroyo that gave the Presidential visit the human touch. Here's a picture of that meeting.

I arrived at the Cathedral kinda late this afternoon and the procession has started. I managed to take two shots of the patrona's carroza as it passed by the pink house in front of the Cathedral.

Let me share some pix which I took during the 2007 Hadang Grand Streetdance Exhibition. The event was participated by a good number of tribus or festival groups who went around Calbayog and performed in selected areas of the city. I would have wanted to show you pictures of the particpants in action, but the pictures did not turn out nice (no thanks to my old mobile phone). I'll share with you the pix from CACO as soon as I get hold of it.

The participating groups included, among others, Alimango Festival of Sta. Margarita; Nikit Festival of Allen, Northern Samar; Tribu Catadman of Catarman, Northern Samar, Sapywan Festival of Silanga, Catbalogan.
